Ontario PCs appoint remaining candidates, Mike Harris Jr. gets Kitchener-Conestoga

With just 47 days to spare, the Ontario PC Party is now officially ready for the spring election.

PC Leader Doug Ford made the announcement Saturday, appointing candidates to the 11 remaining provincial ridings without a scheduled nomination meeting – including in Waterloo Region and Guelph.

In a release, Ford says – “Help is on the way.”

The announcement brings some forced resolution to local Tory ridings, with Mike Harris Jr. named as the candidate for Kitchener-Conestoga.

Harris Jr. is the son of former Premier Mike Harris – and was originally seeking the nomination in Waterloo. He lost the vote to Dan Weber.

The provincial riding in the Royal City welcomed Saturday’s news, as Ray Ferraro receives the nomination for the Guelph PC candidate.

In a separate move, Tanya Granic Allen getting put back in the limelight as well.

She won the nomination for Mississauga Centre – that’s after losing the provincial PC leadership vote to Ford, and some continued confusion on whether she was ever running in Cambridge.
